Seat of Arkansas' Oldest County

DeWitt, seat of Arkansas County, is a natural gateway to huge White River National Wildlife Refuge, a mecca for hunters, and Arkansas Post, where Arkansas history literally began. Located on the Grand Prairie, much of the land surrounding DeWitt is devoted to corn, rice and soybean crops.
- White River National Wildlife Refuge - East of DeWitt, this 154,000-acre preserve is widely popular with hunters and fishermen. Over 200 lakes and a number of primitive campsites.
- Arkansas Post National Memorial
- Site of first permanent settlement in lower Mississippi River Valley. Visitor center and marked driving route - off U.S. 165 south of DeWitt.
- Arkansas Post County Museum - Collection of authentic Delta structures, including farm equipment exhibit. Off U.S. 165 south of DeWitt.
- Bayou Meto Wildlife Management Area - West of DeWitt and a favorite with duck hunters.
- Area Tours - Contact the Chamber of Commerce for tours of Cormier Rice Milling Company, Blacks Rice Company and Adams Industrial Iron Works.
- City Park - New 35-acre facility off Highway 1 offers fishing, walking paths and playground.
